Blog Start

OK, OK... I've finally decided to drag myself into the blogosphere.

I'm working on the paper flushing out the 14 elements which indicate increased risk when found on an offender's computer. I hope to have that done by the end of November. It will be posted on the Resources page and replace the one sheet summary of the elements.

I talked with Bill Walsh yesterday (as he took me to the airport from the Joining Forces Conference in Utah) and it sounds like the upcoming Crimes Against Women and Crimes Against Children conferences will take a major leap forward in 2010 when they move to the new venue. I am pleased to be an ongoing part of both those endeavors.

I'll be updating the SSOTR in December to add how it aligns with the emerging GLM approach to sex offender treatment. I think it fits nicely. I understand Greg Brown has included the SSOTR in the upcoming trainings he is doing with Fox Valley. Thanks to Greg for nudging me to get it updated.

I did a two hour interview with a major paper recently. I think the article will be appearing soon. I connected the journalist with several of my colleagues and he indicated that your input was extremely helpful - thanks for talking with him. I'll post a link here when the article comes out.

Many thanks to Joe Russo of NLECTC-RM for continuing to keep Jim Persinger (the wizard behind the coding of Field Search) and I informed on the successes of Field Search. It is always good news when the tool helps protect children.
